Puppy Kong (for all ages)

Made in the USA!  Everyone loves a kong and what better way to introduce your new puppy to safe ways to chew than using a puppy kong.  Even if you don't have a puppy, the special rubber used to make puppy kongs is a little more pliable than the red kongs so even if your adult dog has not enjoyed the red kongs in the past, there's a good chance that he'll enjoy a puppy kong like it's the next best thing since raw food (or white bread to you and me!).

What the heck is a kong you ask?  It's a dome shaped rubber thing (technical aren't we) that is hallowed out on the inside.  Thrown, it gives a wacky bounce.  While you can offer your dog a kong just on its own, the hallowed out interior of the kong makes it especially suitable for stuffing.  Stuff the kong, give it to your dog and voila, an instant pacifier to keep your dog occupied as he tries to get all the goodies out from inside.

How do you stuff a kong?  With anything that fits!  Here are some of our favourite ways to stuff kongs:

- peanut butter
- small pieces of cookie mixed in with peanut butter
- Bravo food (or other raw meat) which is then frozen
- cheese (mash it all in)
- cottage cheese which is then frozen

The possibilities are endless.

So now that your dog has finished cleaning out his kong, what do you do with the slimy thing?  Rinse it off and put it in the dishwasher!  If you don't have a dishwasher, use a bottle brush (found in the baby section of the supermarket) and clean it with hot soapy water in the sink.

Kongs come in pink or blue and are available in both small and large sizes.  We recommend the small size for miniature sized dogs and up to medium sized dogs who prefer smaller chew items.  The large size is fine for all size dogs but are particularly suited for medium to giant breeds.

Remember, your dog does not have to be a puppy to enjoy the puppy kong.  Our adult dogs actually prefer them!  These things last for like forever and both sizes work well with a Kong Time.
